The physical symptoms of anxiety attacks can be very mild to very severe. The symptoms of anxiety attacks have a range of physical symptoms and occur when the body’s fight or flight response or sympathetic response is triggered. Once it is triggered, the hormone adrenalin is released which causes the physical symptoms.

Usually, the symptoms of anxiety attacks would include a tachycardia or rapid heart rate. The person suffering from anxiety attacks would feel a rapid heartbeat with some irregularities. Sometimes, there could be stop or skipped beats and the person who experiences it is completely aware of it. Feeling the skipped beats can also increase the anxiety level of the person suffering from it.

A person suffering from panic or anxiety attack can also experience sweating or perspiration. Actually, this is the most common symptom for anxiety. Sweating is natural especially when a person experiences emotions such as anger, embarrassment, and tension or anxiety.

In addition to sweating, shaking or trembling is also considered as one of the symptoms of anxiety attacks. If the anxiety attack is severe, trembling is more visible. Usually, the lips and the hands are noticeably trembling or shaking when a person is anxious.

Aside from tachycardia or increased heart rate, difficulty of breathing or shortness of breath is also considered as one of those symptoms of anxiety attacks that is felt when a person suddenly becomes anxious or feels troubled due to irrational fear or panic.

There are some patients who would experience some chest pains while also experiencing tachycardia. Because of this, some people would think that the person is suffering from a heart attack rather than an anxiety attack. Although this can also be considered as a possibility, it would be best to seek medical attention rather than assume for the possibilities.

If some people would experience chest discomforts, there are some who would experience digestive discomforts when they are extremely anxious. Usually, nausea and vomiting is common; however, there are some people who would also experience abdominal pain or abdominal discomforts due to the extreme emotions that they felt. Aside from nausea, some would also feel lightheaded or dizzy, which is why it is difficult for them to maintain their balance.

For rare symptoms, there are some people who would feel like they are going crazy when they are extremely anxious. While an anxiety attack is considered as a psychological disorder, the idea that the patient thinks that he/she is going crazy can be alarming because this means that the person may lose touch with reality and would really lose his/her mind if the anxiety is not treated soon.
