Causes of Panic Attacks

panic-blow

Most people would wonder what causes panic attacks because the experience is so frightening that people would often want to avoid it.Apparently, what causes panic attacks can’t be specifically explained because it varies from one person to another. Usually, a panic attack can cause various physical symptoms such as chest pains, hyperventilation and rapid pulse rate. Sometimes, people would often mistake the symptoms of panic attack to asthma attack or heart attack. Because of this, they become more anxious and the condition would worsen.

The patient experiencing these attacks develops some form of irrational fear which causes their mind to be clouded and become emotionally paralyzed. Those who are experiencing social fears are worst than those experiencing physical fears because the latter can be avoided and can be controlled while the former requires adaptation rather than control.

Experts did not specifically identify what causes panic attacks because it is different for every person. Thus, it is very important that the person should realize what causes panic attacks for him/her so that the appropriate treatment plan can be easily determined.

On the other hand, to provide you more information, here are some examples of what causes panic attacks:

An extremely stressful situation is one of the major causes of stress among individuals. When a person is stressed, some the body’s reaction is to activate the body’s fight or flight response. Similar to when a person is exposed to a dangerous situation. When a person is in danger, the initial reaction is to escape. The body would then release adrenalin which increases the person’s energy levels. The release of adrenalin causes the rapid heart rate and hyperventilation.
Another cause of panic attacks would be physical illness. When a person is ill, the medications that he/she is taking may have caused the panic attacks. However, this is a rare case and do not usually happen.

A panic disorder is often always the main cause of the panic attack.  On the other hand, panic attacks can also be the reason for the development of the panic disorder. The person who is experiencing the panic disorder should immediately take action and seek medical attention so that the condition will not be aggravated and the person will be able to prevent the development of the panic disorder.

Another common cause of panic attack would be the individual’s personality. If an individual is very introvert, he/she may develop panic attacks whenever exposed to a crowd of people or whenever required to be in front of many people.

As you can see, there are really a lot of possible causes of anxiety attacks but if you know what the specific causes for you would be, proper treatment and improving your quality of life is possible.
