What is Panic Disorder?

When someone suffers from a panic attack disorder, they may experience a sudden feeling of fear that seems to appear for no reason. If you are someone who suffers from a panic attack disorder, it is not uncommon for you to assume that people think it is all in your head. It is important that you remember that you can experience physical symptoms as well. Also keep in mind that the physical symptoms that you experience may lead you to believe that you are having a heart attack.


Some people are lucky, and they may experience panic attack not more than once in their lives, it any. However, others may experience one every day or every week. Panic attacks become a panic disorder when they are constant and they are not just by something that you do, but can be set off by something small. From time to time, you may have to deal with people telling you that you are just stressed out, or that there is nothing really wrong with you. Do not believe what they say. If you do not treat your panic attack disorder, it can affect the quality of your life. Stress puts a large strain on your life and can take years away. You may also feel the constant worry about having a panic attack in public, but do not let that keep you from going out. If you stay cooped up in your house all of the time because you are worried about experiencing an attack, that can set off a panic attack as well.

When you experience a panic attack for no definite reason, you may start to feel nauseous. You may also feel lightheaded, chest tightening, shaking, abdominal pain, and heat flashes. You should take the proper steps in treating these symptoms and know what to do if you do experience a panic attack. When you experience a panic attack, it can last from just a few minutes, to over an hour, so be sure that if you think you may be experiencing one, you get to somewhere that you will be able to cope with it. It is important that you learn how to control them and that you do not let them rule your life.

You should also always be aware that you are not the only one who suffers from a panic attack disorder. There are millions of people around the world who suffer from this disorder. Also keep in mind that there is help available, all you have to do is ask.

Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder that affects about 3.5% of the population. People with panic disorder experience unexpected and repeated panic attacks. They become terrified that they may have more attacks and fear that something bad such as going crazy, losing control, or dying will happen because of the panic attack.
